This is not an Avengers Review… okay it is.

Joss Whedon (writer, director) did an excellent job maintaining the overall tone of the Marvel franchise while infusing it with his trademark heart and wit.  Marvel’s The Avengers is bold, funny, action packed and emotional at all the right moments. With just about two and a half hours running time and a large ensemble there wasn’t a lot of time to spend developing each character (fortunately the other films in the franchise help with this). However, Whedon made sure that the audience gets a good feel for who each Avenger is, what motivates them, and what makes them Big Damn Heroes.

My recommendation, run out and see this movie in theatres, this thing was built for the big screen.

Are you going to see The Avengers? What are you hoping to see in the movie?

If you’ve already seen The Avengers let me know what you thought in the comments, but let’s keep it spoiler free please!

About the Author

I’m determined to break the space-time continuum to allow for more hours in the week so I can stay on top of all the best TV shows, movies and surrounding geekery. Please, if someone can fetch me a TARDIS I will be one step closer to making that happen (and one step closer to that mad man inside the blue box). Until then I’ll have to make do with my regular super powers to keep you in the loop.

Saw it last night at a special viewing.  The movie runs around 2 hours and 15 minutes.  The first hour and a half is a decent movie, on par with Captain America and Iron Man.  The last 45 minutes of the film makes this the best superhero movie in decades.  This is the team up that everyone wanted out of Marvel.  This was even better than the first two X-men.  I will be buying a ticket for Friday to see it again.
