Awake on NBC

Remember Awake, NBC’s  highly anticipated mid-season drama with a major sci-fi-ish twist that I’ve been raving about recently? It’s part emotional thriller, crime drama and part alternate reality adventure.

Awake has it’s official premiere date set for  March 1st at 10pm. Following in the footsteps of New Girl which had an “all format” (except TV) advance premiere, and Smash after that, Awake received an online exclusive premiere in the U.S. last weeks. Now that full length episode preview has been extended to our Great White North.  Though we’re lagging behind out our friends to the south just a little bit, we can now watch the full first episode of Awake online (legally and free) weeks before the series begins it’s regular run.

The 80′s were a magically time. Neon spandex, scrunchies, and the birth of the music video. The 80′s also taught us many valuable lessons such as “Just because you can doesn’t mean you should.”

I came across the little gem over at Obvious Winner. WATCH THE WHOLE THING! You’ll be glad you did.  Read more…

Heyyyy Youuuuu Guyssssss

If anyone knows me, you know I’m a pretty big movie fan.  I’m sure it stemmed from family movie nights in my early childhood – driving to Jumbo Video, trying to find something my mother hadn’t seen yet (which usually seemed impossible, even if she really hadn’t seen it), getting home, running to the kitchen to air-pop bowls of popcorn, grabbing glasses and 2L bottles of Diet Coke, making our way to the living room like the Simpsons for our in-home entertainment experience. Ever since then I’ve made movies a daily part of my life, meaning you’ll be seeing a lot of great movies tattoos in my posts, along with some amazing television shows (mostly cartoons).

I know we’ve posted this before but, it’s a new year with new artwork so suck it up.

Invented by James F. Wright and Joshua G. Eckert, the Geek Zodiac is actually incredibly accurate because it’s based on the real Chinese Zodiac calendar.

Me? I’m a Treasure Hunter. A quick thinker whose cavalier with the law. If we lived in another star system, I’d be a Browncoat for sure.

Hey baby, what’s your sign? Read more…

inspectorspacetime

Community and Doctor Who fans rejoice! Inspector Spacetime, the Doctor Who parody on Community is becoming a reality!

Travis Richey, the actor who plays Inspector Spacetime on Community was inspired by his role and announced yesterday at the Gallifrey One Doctor Who Convention that he will be independently(with the help of fans!) producing a 6-episode web series with the help of fans and a Kickstarter account.

Richey, experienced in the world of web series and huge Community/Doctor Who fan, was inspired by his role and immediately wrote a script for Inspector Spacetime. When the pitch failed to get a response from the guys upstairs, Richey decided to go forward anyway. The series is unaffiliated with NBC, Community and Dan Harmon, and it doesn’t look like  Richey will be able to get the Community cast to take part, but if Danny Pudi and Donald Glover (Troy and Abed) were to appear … a girl can dream. Popping G33KPRON’s ’5 Questions With’ cherry are Toronto noise-hardcore-metal boys, Vilipend. Self-proclaimed total geeks, the four piece have been recording their upcoming album, playing shows, and gearing up to shoot their first music video. In other words, Vilipend have been busy. This is a band you are going to want to watch out for this year because if you don’t, singer Christopher Gramlich might be inclined to make you walk off a cliff. Huh? Read on to find out just how he’s gonna do that and more.

G33KPRON: Describe your musical style in 140 characters or less.

Toronto Batman

Toronto’s streets were a bit safer last Saturday when the Dark Knight decided to come out and make his rounds throughout the city.

Toronto’s Batman, aka stand-up comedian Alex Brovedani, took to the streets of Toronto asking citizens “WHERE ARE THEY!” or even better “MY PARENTS ARE DEAD!” as he filmed their hilarious reactions.

This Batman first donned the cape back in 2005 and ended up busking in LA a few years later before getting into a bitter rivalry with Hollywood’s own Batman and his cronies including Michael Myers and Jason. That’s when he came back to Toronto to deliver his own brand of vigilante justice.

Check out the video of our very own Batman below. What a joker (ha!) Read more…

Hey Castle Fans! I’m sure you’ve been at the edge of your seat since last week’s cliffhanger! In true Castle form, this two-parter left off with Castle & Beckett in close quarters and mortal danger.

Last week “Pandora” introduced Sophia Conrad (Jennifer Beals), a tough as nails CIA agent and Castle’s first muse. (He certainly does seem to have a type.) Beckett feels threatened, not only because she doesn’t respond well to higher authority, but she’s also a little wounded discovering that she’s not Castle’s only muse, diminishing her “special” status.  Of course as Castle attempts to quell Beckett’s uneasiness about meeting a woman from his past, the two dive headfirst into a case that is out of their depth. As usual, Castle’s never-ending curiosity and Beckett’s drive get the duo into big trouble.

level 80 Paladin

Once upon a time I was searching Game of Thrones tattoos and came across this gigantic piece on Russian-American pro basketball player Andrei Kirilenko. It’s said to be an image of his World of Warcraft character – a level 80 Paladin riding a dragon.  I’ve done what I can to research this and even though Kirilenko claims it’s not a WoW tattoo, he has admitted to being able to drop 36 hours straight on his days off and has expressed how much the game was a revelation for him, something that he had been looking for to express himself.
